Description
From exile in ancient Gaul, Pontius Pilate recounts his steady rise to power in the Roman Empire. With friends in high places and the support of his equally ambitious wife, Pilate finds himself on the fast track to the Roman Senate—until he is appointed as governor in the isolated province of Judea. As the iron fist of Rome, Pilate encounters a land of corrupt leadership and fervent convictions. But when the teachings of a young Rabbi threaten to subvert the nation and capture the heart of his wife, Pilate must choose between the demands of an angry mob and the life of an innocent man. With its marriage struggles, kingmakers, dysfunctional royal family, corrupt political manoeuverings and search for truth, this play is startling in its relevance to life today. Recorded live in Nairobi, Kenya.
